Business Stadium Central, a 24,000 sq. m mixed-use development in Vilnius designed by Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) for Lithuanian developer Hanner, has received its completion certificate.

Developed as part of the broader Vilnius City Plan, the project comprises two low-rise office towers rising eight and nine storeys respectively. The towers are connected by a courtyard atrium at street level and a skybridge at the fifth floor, creating a cohesive architectural ensemble.

Drawing inspiration from the geometries of the district’s civic architecture, the design integrates a series of terraces and landscaped roof gardens. The top floor features a public sports and wellness complex equipped with swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms, and an outdoor sun deck, offering panoramic views of Gediminas Castle and Vilnius’ historic Old Town.

Situated within Vilnius’ humid continental climate, the development incorporates natural hybrid ventilation for much of the year. High-efficiency heat exchange and recovery systems have been implemented to reduce energy consumption, while double-insulated low-E glazing combined with external louvres maximizes natural daylight across office spaces and public areas.

Designed to accommodate both Lithuanian and international companies from the technology, wellness, creative, and service sectors, the building is set to welcome its first tenants shortly, with a grand opening scheduled for Spring this year.

Energy positive, timber framed and open to the public – Nexus Terrae is the winning proposal for the new headquarters of Italy’s Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, set in the historic EUR district of Rome. Designed as a symbol of environmental leadership, the project represents a new model for government architecture in Italy – one that embodies the nation’s environmental ambitions through transparency, innovation and civic engagement.

PLP was part of an international consortium – including GPA, Perillo S.R.L., Oblyk Studio, Architetto Valentini, and Enser – that won the public competition to design Nexus Terrae. Envisioned as a manifesto for sustainable architecture, the project reflects Italy’s environmental ambitions through innovation, transparency, and adaptability. Designed as an energy-positive and circular building, the new MASE headquarters aims to function both as a high-performance workplace and a civic landmark, setting a new benchmark for future government institutions.

Carefully integrated into the orthogonal layout and monumental scale of the EUR district, the design organises around 30,000 m² of workspace and public functions within two timber-framed volumes constructed in cross-laminated larch (X-LAM).

The ground floor is fully accessible to the public and draws the surrounding landscape into the building, allowing greenery to extend deep into the interior. This creates a biophilic environment for visitors and everyday users, while spaces for exhibitions, discussion, and collaboration unfold within this verdant setting, transforming the entrance sequence into an experience shaped by nature, light, and civic engagement.

At the core of the building, a vertical atrium rises through multiple levels, filled with daylight and vegetation. Suspended within this space are a series of floating volumes that form terraces & focused work areas, offering moments for reflection while maintaining visual connectivity throughout the building.

Above, a panoramic rooftop terrace shaded by a timber canopy integrates high-efficiency photovoltaic panels, providing both a social amenity and renewable energy generation. Combined with a range of passive environmental strategies, these features enable the building to generate more energy annually than it consumes.

The façade presents a refined composition of glass and travertine, expressing a dialogue between tradition and innovation. During the day it conveys solidity and permanence, while at night it transforms into a softly illuminated presence along Viale America, projecting a sense of openness and civic identity.

Nexus Terrae represents the latest addition to PLP’s ongoing contribution to Italy’s urban transformation, following three major projects in Milan including Corso Como Place, the Parco Romana masterplan, and the recently approved design for Building Zero within the Lampugnano redevelopment plan. It also continues PLP’s commitment to sustainability at an institutional scale, building on projects such as the National Meteorological Center in South Korea, which will become the Korean government’s first net-zero building and a symbol of its environmental commitment.

LED Studio has announced a strategic partnership with Cree LED®, a Penguin Solutions brand (Nasdaq: PENG) to introduce a new generation of LED display technology, representing a fundamental shift in how LED displays are built.

At the centre of the partnership is OptiLamp™ intelligent LED components, a breakthrough development that rethinks where the critical electronics in an LED system live. Much of the circuitry that would normally sit across the LED module has been engineered into a single diode, dramatically simplifying the system.

By reducing the number of external components required, displays become cleaner, lighter and more efficient. Fewer parts mean fewer potential failure points, lower power consumption, and a more streamlined manufacturing process.

The technology also enables true 1/1 scan performance, delivering smoother motion, richer colour depth, and improved on-camera results, particularly important in broadcast, corporate, and immersive environments. With monitoring and calibration data operating at pixel level, brightness and colour consistency can be maintained more precisely over time. This supports longer product lifecycles, improved reliability and more predictable maintenance.

Robert Bint, CEO at LED Studio, said: “This is about simplifying LED display technology at its core. By bringing together what was once spread across the module into a single diode, we reduce complexity while improving performance. It’s a smarter way to build displays – we’re engineering the next generation of display systems.”

This partnership signals a clear step forward in LED display technology, where simplicity and innovation are achieved not in what is added, but in what is stripped away.

Cooper Lighting Solutions has announced the relaunch of IRiS, its premium architectural downlighting platform, beginning with a new 3-inch family designed for luxury residential and hospitality applications. Available immediately, IRiS returns as a fully reengineered system built to meet the expectations of today’s most demanding lighting designers.

IRiS has been rebuilt from the ground up—not updated. The platform introduces a new level of post-installation control, allowing designers to refine ceiling depth and reduce glare even after the space is complete. Light holds its intention. The ceiling stays quiet.

Field-interchangeable silicone optics transform IRiS into a platform for shaping light, not just placing it. From narrow, controlled beams to wide, immersive washes, designers can move in precise 5° increments from 8° to 70°, delivering light exactly where it belongs. Asymmetric distributions extend that control further, revealing texture, form, and architecture with clarity and restraint.

Trimless (knife-edge) options, engineered for both plaster-in and millwork applications, create a seamless, aperture-only expression. Microflange and flanged trims introduce a subtle visual edge where desired, while a curated palette of premium finishes shapes the final impression the light leaves in the space.
