Lighting is entering a phase where intent matters as much as innovation. The focus is gradually moving away from excess towards precision, where every element, from source to control, is expected to contribute meaningfully. This approach is shaping a more refined and responsible design language, one that is both technologically advanced and deeply connected to human experience.
This issue highlights the evolving landscape of lighting through our cover story, The New Age of Lighting, which explores the role of LED technology, sustainability, and smart systems in shaping the built environment. It reflects on how energy efficiency, intelligent controls, and human-centric design are becoming central to modern lighting practices.
Alongside this, we feature the Noori Masjid, Nashik project, where lighting is used to create a calm and contemplative experience rooted in the concept of ‘Nūr’. The issue also features a few notable projects along with key industry news updates. Together, these features present a clear direction towards more thoughtful and purpose-driven lighting design.
In line with the growing adoption of smart lighting solutions, more than 1000 exhibitors from across the globe are set to showcase their state-of-the-art products at the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair, scheduled to be held from 20 to 23 April at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. In this issue, we present a special pre-event report highlighting the key agendas, prominent exhibitors, and the expanding scope of the fair.
Closer to home, India will also witness a major industry showcase with Light + LED Expo Mumbai 2026, taking place from 07 to 09 May in Mumbai. As the official media partner, Lighting India will be present at Booth No. G-101, and we look forward to engaging with industry stakeholders during the event.
