Philips Ultinon Pro9000 LED has been selected at the 2021 Red Dot design awards as a Best of the Best winner in the Product Design category. This makes it one of the year’s stand-out products assessed on criteria that include innovation, functionality and durability. Evaluating nearly 7,800 entries from 60 countries this year, the Red Dot jury reserves its Best of the Best awards for examples of ground-breaking design.

Every year, the Red Dot awards bring together a jury of around 50 international experts to consider the design of products ranging from consumer electronics to furniture and vehicles. Functional performance, aesthetic appeal and environmental impact are among the benchmarks used to judge entries. The awards originated in 1955 and have achieved worldwide recognition as a seal of approval for top-quality design.

Offering the best beam performance for an LED retrofit automotive bulb, the Philips Ultinon Pro9000 gives drivers a step-change in visibility with light that is up to 250% brighter yet does not dazzle other road users. The compact, one-piece design fits neatly into many existing headlight units, is compatible with projector and reflector headlamps and provides a safe, perfectly aligned beam from the footprint of a conventional halogen bulb. Its very space-efficient shape caught the Red Dot judges’ attention. It also makes installation fast and hassle-free for drivers looking to upgrade from halogen to LED.

Commenting on the award winners, Red Dot CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec said, – they “set trends in product design and give a glimpse of future developments. Only a fraction of our participants achieve this perfect symbiosis of aesthetics and functionality.”
